Sara Adwoa Safo reacts to news of her being considered by Bawumia as running mate
Sarah Adwoa Safo, the member of parliament for the Dome-Kwabenya seat, has responded to reports that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is considering her as a running partner before the 2019 elections.
In response to the rumors, Adwoa Safo stated that she was unable to claim it as the vice president has the power to select anyone he thinks is most suitable to be his running mate in order to ensure the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) success in the 2018 general elections.
She did, however, say that the people should pray for her if it is true that her name is among those being considered for the running mate position.

In an interview conducted by ZackGh.com with Onua FM, the MP for Dome-Kwabenya declined to say whether or not she would take the role should she be selected.
The show’s host, Nana Yaa Brefo, questioned the interviewee, “Do you believe it is about time a woman gets considered as running mate? A few names have surfaced, such as yours, Ursula Owusu, Frema Opare, and others. Should you get selected, would you accept it?
In reply, Adwoa Safo said,
“I think it is his [Dr Bawumia] prerogative, so I will leave it for him to decide. If you have heard my name to be part of those being considered, support it with prayers.”
Following the announcement of Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as his closest rival for the 2024 presidential election, pressure on Dr. Bawumia has been increasing.
December 7, 2024 is the scheduled date of the general election.
It is unclear who Dr. Bawumia would select as his running companion.
