On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, Ghana’s sprint sensation Benjamin Azamati placed sixth in the Men’s 100-meter final at the 2023 African Games.

With a time of 10.23 seconds, Itsekiri Usheoritse of Nigeria took second place, and Gilbert Hainuca of Namibia took home the bronze with a record of 10.29 seconds.
Azamati, who raced in 10.45 seconds, and his fellow countryman Aggerh Barnabas, who ran in 10.50 seconds, were not able to make it to the podium.
When he finished slowly in the 100-meter semifinal, Azamati made a reference to a hip flexor issue.
“I feel like I didn’t execute well, so it wasn’t the ideal race for me, but I will go sit down with my coach and discuss it.” My hip flexors were a little bit tight. “After finishing the race in 10.41 seconds, I think I’ll go back and see the physio to work on that and see how we can do tomorrow,” he said to the reporters.
In the meanwhile, Mary Boakey of Ghana was seventh in the women’s 100-meter race and did not receive a medal.
